Madison's Olbrich Gardens in the Mist...

Madison has a garden called Olbrich Gardens, on the east side, where most of the good stuff in town can be found. They have a tropical dome, which is great in dead of winter. I'd never really spent much time in the rest of Olbrich Gardens, which is this rather intricate, lush maze of flowers, brick walkways and shrubs and stuff, all leading to the Thai Pavilion, although the paths can lead you where ever you want, I suppose. It was a Saturday afternoon, with a pause in the steady rain. Drops fell now and then. Very humid and "close" as we (Nancy Poodledoc, Poodledoc,Jr, and my fiancee Julia)wound our way through what felt like a jungle.

Nice photos. Why is Jr. using a cane?

He's working on my sympathy so I'll raise his allowance! (actually, it's my mom's cane and since she was racing around on the Garden's electric scooter, she didn't need it....

We were somewhere last year where someone said something about living on the "West Side", which was then identified as B.B. Clarke beach. Too bad the zoo isn't on our side of town (but we're working on it.) Or Quaker meeting, darn it.

Very nice pictures. I love Olbrich Gardens.

The farther west the west side gets, the farther east the east side reaches. With that logic, the zoo will soon be OURS!! AND the Meeting house! bwahahahahahaha

Hi Chuck,

You have a nice eye! I like the photo of the bridge. The trees on the right provide just enough asymmetry. And with the lilly pads image, the reflection of the trees on the right does something similar. And the two flowers, just a bit above the center - simple and sweet - keep that eye going!

Cheers,
John

Thanks, John, for your encouragement! Coming from a friend and an artist of your skill and passion means a great deal to me.
